Double defeat for Cats
Bracknell Bees sting the Swindon Wildcats with two wins in as many days
The Swindon Wildcats found themselves on the wrong side of the score sheet once again this weekend, as the Bracknell Bees beat them 4-2 on Saturday and 3-2 on Sunday.
With the last two meetings being feisty and physical, fans were looking forward to seeing much of the same with the return of ex Wildcats coach Pete Russell, now managing the Bees.
The first goal came from Aaron Nell (who has just returned to action from a wrist injury) 10 minutes into the 1st period.
With both teams frantically trying to find the net, it wasn't until 3 minutes of the period remaining when Bracknell managed to tie the score with the period ending one a piece. The second period saw a completely different game, Bracknell has most of the possession and took an early lead with only 2 minutes into the second period. It took everything the Cats had to prevent the Bees from scoring a third.
On the defence
The young forwards of the Wildcats bench were unable to break through the Bees tough defence and even when the Cats had a powerplay they were unable to get shots on target and wasted these chances, the second period ended 2-1 to the Bees. Bracknell extended their lead in the third period to make the score line 3-1 and it was defenceman Michael Farn who gave the Cats hope as he netted with a rebound shot to make the score 3-2. With Cats desperately looking to get an equaliser to send the game into overtime. Bracknell put an end to any hope they had by extending their lead to make the final score 4-2 to the visitors.
